“Faith is knowing the sun will rise, lighting each new day.
Faith is knowing the Lord will hear my prayers each time I pray.
Faith is like a little seed, if planted it will grow.
Faith is a swelling within my heart –
when I do right, I know.
Faith is knowing I lived with God before my mortal birth.
Faith is knowing I can return when my life ends on Earth.
Faith is trust in God above, in Christ who showed the way.
Faith is strengthened, I feel it grow –
whenever I obey.”
I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life.
When I was just a little girl I learned about the principle of faith, and that it is the first principle of the Gospel.
Faith is defined in Alma 32:21 (in the Book of Mormon) as such:
“And now as I said concerning faith—faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things;
therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true.”
If you have faith – you hope, you believe that there is a Father in Heaven who loves you, who
wants the best for you, and who hears and answers your prayers.
If you have faith – you hope, you believe that Jesus Christ atoned for your sins, that He died and was resurrected,
that because of Him you can repent and live with Him and your beloved family and friends after you depart from this life.
I have faith.
That is why I am a member.
I have prayed, and hoped, and believed, and I have received an answer that these things are true.
Even in hard times, I have clung to my faith, and that is what has given me the strength to keep going.
