It was a day like any other.
Except it wasn’t.
It was the day we would find out the gender of our first baby (and make sure s/he was healthy, too).
So after checking in, and a few disgruntled comments from our ultrasound tech about how I didn’t follow the instructions correctly about how much water to drink and when, there we were.
And there he was, on the screen.
Except, I didn’t know it was a he.
Kyle says he could tell, but I couldn’t.
However, after checking with us that we wanted to know the gender….
“It’s a boy,” she said.
A boy.
And there it was, and I was in shock.
I had been expecting a girl. I wanted one, I guess. All of Kyle’s brothers had had girls first, so it was anticipated and expected, by this point.
But a boy.
I looked at Kyle, and smiled.
“Are you ok?” he asked.
“Yes,” I answered.
A boy.
It took a while to sink in.
But I can’t imagine having anything else.
