If you know us, you know that Kyle and I love camping – but we haven’t gone camping yet this year since we added a little one to the mix. But we went over the weekend and had a great time! Abe’s first camping trip π {Our goal is to get him aclimated to camping early on, since we’ll be doing quite a bit of it!}
We went down to Heyburn State Park, on Chatcolet Lake (the southern end of Lake Coeur d’Alene) which is about an hour drive south of us. We got to our campground around 6 pm on Friday and set up camp. For some reason, Abe was pretty cranky that night. He cried off and on from 6-9, until we finally put him to bed. I’m not sure if it was just new and scary, or what. He slept ok, but I finally pulled him into bed with us around 2 am because he was being so wiggly. I think he was just a little cold sleeping in his pack n play, because he slept great after that! (Momma not so much…) π
Saturday we went on a hike (Abe slept in his carrier – bummed I forgot the camera to take a picture of that and the woodpecker we saw!) and then Abe took a nap while Kyle rode his bike. In the afternoon we drove around the lake to Harrison to get some ice cream, and to get out of the heat π Kyle took our kayak out for a bit and I went on a little walk with Abe. We spent the rest of the evening hanging out at our camp site.
Abe ended up coming into bed with us again on Saturday night, but it’s ok – I didn’t mind the snuggles.
After we woke up on Sunday, we packed up and drove home in order to get back in time for church.
While it didn’t go quite as we envisioned, Abe still did great, and we are looking forward to going camping with Kyle’s mom and dad in a few weeks! And for all the camping trips to come.
