I’ve recently joined the facebook group Thrive Intentionally, started by Kristen over at When At Home. I love Kristen’s blog, she’s very real and down to earth. Finding out about the group came along just at the right time, when I’ve set some goals (see them here) and am determined to stick to them. The facebook community has been great, really encouraging, helpful and supportive. {And everyone knows I’m a sucker for facebook groups.}
Since joining this group, I’ve been thinking about what those two words mean to me.
“Thrive” and “Intentionally”.
To me, “thrive” means to bloom, blossom, be your best. I can thrive at home by being the best wife, the best mother I can be. That can mean keeping a clean house, getting dinner on the table, doing laundry in a timely fashion {yes, even putting away the clothes…}. I can also thrive by having some me time to unwind or to work. Whether I am reading, napping, working on the blog, or on my Thirty-One business. I can thrive in those aspects as well.
So, what about “intentionally”? To be intentional means to do something with intent. I intend to publish a blog post today, so I will sit down and blog, and I won’t play around on facebook until it’s finished. I intend to make dinner tonight, so I will start prepping ingredients early and keep track of the time, so I’m not just starting to make dinner at 6 pm. I intend to spend time with my baby, so I’ll put away my phone and giggle and laugh with him, saving any other tasks until his nap time.
To Thrive Intentionally, to me, means to make goals about my life, and KEEP THEM. Sometimes I might have to fake it until I make it – I’ll cook dinner even if all I want to do is turn on Netflix and order pizza. I’ll do some laundry even if the baby is sleeping and I want to read. I can do laundry, and then read.
This post is probably all over the place, but I hope you understand what I’m saying.
I think it’s very important to Thrive Intentionally on our journey as women. Too many times we feel like we get lost in the shuffle and life passes us by as we sit on our couch and scroll through facebook and watch Netflix. Instead, we should set goals, and stick to them, so we have something to show. Something to be proud of.
