I recently had the opportunity to read The Reason: how I discovered a life worth living by Lacey Sturm. And oh my heavens, it was amazing. Lacey was the lead singer of the band Flyleaf before she stepped down to stay at home with her family, and she is now also a solo artist. In this book, Lacey reveals her childhood to us, her life as an unbelieving teenager, the chain of events that led her to want to commit suicide, and the reason she was able to turn to God and live. Hers is an incredible story of faith and I want everyone to own a copy of this book.
And she leaves us with this beautiful testimony:
“I want you to know you are beautiful. I want you to see the beauty of life around you. I want you to fulfill the highest heights for which you were created… I want you to know that no matter who you are, no matter what you believe, no matter what you do or what you have done, God loves you… I am alive, and Christ is The Reason.
God loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life, life to the full. Christ died so you could live, because He loves you. You are The Reason. You and I were made to be lovers of God. There is no other love greater. There is nothing else that will give us more life” (pages 189-190).
And to that I say amen, and amen.
