Every Bitter Thing is Sweet {A Book Review}

via
Family Christian has once again so graciously given me a book to review. If you haven’t checked them out during my other posts (here and here), I seriously suggest you do. They sell wonderful books,journals, bibles, home decor, and much more! They are an amazing company.
And now, onto the book. Every Bitter Thing is Sweet has the potential to be a life-changing book. However, I will admit, I did not love this book. I didn’t feel as I could relate to Sara and the way she felt in her life. But that being said, there were a few parts that really made me think and ponder and led me to talk with the Lord. So, for that, I am grateful.
One such section of her book was when she talked about the account given in Mark 5:25-34 about the women with an issue of blood. (See a short but beautiful video of this story here.) This women was alone, but had such faith. She believed she could be healed. Here is what Sara says about this bible story:
“She didn’t see herself worthy of a chosen moment, but she dove for an accidental healing.The crowd… often lost her… overlooked her… misunderstood the person underneath. He saw her. She was once broken and neglected, but this day she was noticed. He saw faith” (from pages 158-159).
Haven’t we all felt this way? Alone and lonely, lost and broken? As I thought about this story, all I could think of is that He is the Healer, the Master, He sees us for who we truly are and what we can become. With our faith and His help, we can rise and overcome and live. I feel it is important to note that Christ was on his way to heal a little girl. But He took the time to talk with this woman. Should we not be like Him? Once He has healed us, can we not take the time out of our day to help those around us be healed? Absolutely, we can, and we should.
I have opted not to do a giveaway for this book, but if you think it is something you would enjoy, I encourage you to pick it up. And let me know what you think!
