This year was the first Thanksgiving that we spent with just our little family. I mentioned this before in my vlog, but all the years we lived in Utah and Pocatello we spent Thanksgiving at my mom’s. Then we moved up here, and Kyle’s mom and dad joined up for Thanksgiving last year. And this year, since we’re going to Utah for Christmas (2 weeks away!!) we spent Thanksgiving by ourselves, and it was great. We had thought about going to my friend’s parents’ house, but didn’t want to make the 4 hour round trip in one day, and we also invited a couple of friends over, but they all ended up having different plans. Which is fine! And it was a great and relaxing day for Kyle and me.
We both woke up around 8:30, and Kyle put the turkey in the oven before going to play in a Turkey Bowl game with some of our friends. Abe woke up while he was gone, so I fed him and got him ready, and when Kyle came home I took a shower and got myself ready. Abe went down for a nap, and Kyle and I ate a delicious and quiet meal. The rest of the day was spent reading, watching football, chatting to our parents, and just enjoying the time together. Oh! And we put up our Christmas tree, too! Our house looks so festive now 🙂
Shirt: Loft // Tank: Forever 21 // Pants: Nordstrom // Headband: Walmart
I knew we wouldn’t be going anywhere, but I still wanted to at least get a little dressed up. To be honest, most Thanksgivings I stay in sweats, but not this year! I’ve had this shirt laying around in my closet for more than a year! I bought it at the Loft outlet in Utah in 2013 (for $5!!), but then I got pregnant and couldn’t wear it, and I finally slipped it on yesterday. It has all these sequins up top that just make for a fun shirt. I love that it fits like a regular t shirt, but has that little extra bit of sparkle.
What did you do for Thanksgiving? Do you get together with family or spend a quiet day at home? I’d love to know! And of course — linking up with Jana and Maegen.
