My first experience with make up (other than that horrendous kiddy make up) was in 7th grade. I bought a little palette of sparkly white and sparkly sky blue eye-shadow at Old Navy and I thought I was awesome. Oh heavens. Then as I got a bit older I ventured into the world of powder foundation and wore that, a basic mascara and lip gloss or chap stick all through high school and into college. In college I added in brown eye shadow andddd well, that’s been my make up routine since. But about 9 months ago, I changed. I decided I wanted to try to actually “do” make up and I wanted to do it right. Luckily, around the same time, my best friend started a beauty blog and I started chatting to her about make up. I’m still learning, that much is true, but since then I’ve experimented with different colors of eye liner and eye shadow, been bold with my lipstick choices, started filling in my eyebrows, and started using primer and setting spray. And guess what? I love it. I love what I’m learning. My look is still very much a natural look, but I love being able to add a pop of color to my day.
My newest find is Paula Dorf’s Perfect Color in Ecstasy. This amazing product can be used on lips, cheeks and eyes, and comes in some great shades. I personally want to try Innocence next. I popped this baby right on my lips as soon as I got it to try it out and I was pleased to see that it was a pretty pale pink, not as bright as I had feared it would be. Then, for these pictures, I also used the product on my cheeks. I don’t usually wear blush or anything like that, because I have such a pink undertone to my skin! I don’t need any more color, ha, but I wanted to give it a try. I actually liked it! I’ll have to study up a little more on how to apply blush, since I don’t do it often, but I think I might rotate it in to my beauty routine when I feel like it.
