In junior high and high school I didn’t own a single piece of clothing in pink or purple. They were too girly for me and I didn’t want to be perceived as a girly-girl. I’ve only started to come out of that mindset in the last couple of years or so, and I now have quite a few items of clothing that are pink and purple (although I still don’t own any hot pink, ew!). And when I was putting together an outfit for this week’s The Creative Closet prompt (Will You Be My Valentine?), I assumed I should go with some of my pink shirts or my pink dress. But, the day I was going to take pictures I decided I didn’t feel like wearing any of those things at all, and so I settled on this dark purple dress, with some pinks worked in. To be honest, this outfit isn’t something I would wear out on a date — I would probably wear this dress/tights/shoes with a fancier cardi on top if it was a fancy date — but I am usually all about a more casual look, jeans, cardigans, etc. But, since we didn’t have time to take these pictures any other day, this is what happened. And it turned out ok.
PS, we totally took these pictures as we were on our way home from church. We were hungry and baby was in the car already and I persuaded Kyle to snap some pictures for me really fast. I didn’t take the time to adjust my manual setting and I totally should have. Le sigh. Maybe one day I will shell out the cash for Photoshop, too.
