The Dog That Saved Stewart Coolidge | A Book Tour and Review

Have y’all ever heard of a book tour before? No? Well, basically a bunch of bloggers are sent the same book to review, and they post their review in a specific time frame (that corresponds with the book’s release) for their readers to learn about! I think it’s such a fun idea, and I am actually going to be a part of two this month!

First up, The Dog That Saved Stewart Coolidge, by Jim Kraus. I’ve said before, but I’m not a huge pet person. However, one of my favorite books is told in the perspective of a dog, so I thought I’d give this book a try and see what I thought. It was a sweet, although predictable story, and I’m glad I gave it a shot.

Basically, the plot follows two recent college grads – Lisa and Stewart – as they try to find their place in the world. Both are working at menial jobs and are lonely, but when a stray dog comes to town, he’s able to bring them together, and introduce Stewart to God, as well. I really enjoyed that the view switched back and forth between the dog and Stewart, because I always get a kick out of how authors personify animals — actually, the dog’s chapters were my favorite in the book.

All this said, I give it a solid 2 stars. For me, it was a bit light and fluffy, and extremely predictable. And as much as I enjoyed reading the dog’s POV, it didn’t really do much for me. However, if you like animals, and like sweet faith-filled fiction, I still recommend! I know some people who love this book, and I think that some of you might, too.
