Fashion After Baby | Vol. 1 (+ A Giveaway!)

Fashion After Baby

Hi friends! Welcome to my new series Fashion After Baby. In the past year or two I’ve really come into my own style, and learned some great tips about how to dress and style my body. And I really wanted to create a platform that I can share what I’ve learned with other women. When I was pregnant with Eliza I decided that I really wanted to focus on dressing and styling postpartum bodies. I know that so many women have a hard time loving their bodies after they’ve had a baby (or two, or three!) and I really want to help women learn how to love their bodies and feel beautiful, no matter your weight or size or how flabby you think your mid-section is.

In the coming months I’m going to be sharing with you some shops, products, tips and tricks all related to feeling beautiful in our own skins. Whether it’s a favorite hair style that is quick and easy, but still cute, or a favorite shirt that helps me feel pretty, the goal is to share with you real products for us ordinary, but wonderful moms. (And even if you’re not a mom yet, I hope you’ll find what I’m sharing applicable to your life and style, too!)

Today I’m thrilled to be partnering with PinkBlush Boutique to showcase a few outfit options that help hide that postpartum belly, and make me feel like a million bucks. I’ll show you my outfit, share what I like about it, and write up a few bullet points on why it works for a postpartum body.

Outfit #1:

Honestly, I’m sharing my very favorite outfit first. This shirt is the epitome of a comfortable yet stylish mom shirt. I love it so much, that I just ordered it in a different color – and if my size had been available in the two other colors, I would have ordered them, too. I can’t say enough good things about this shirt. It’s so cute and comfortable by itself, but is great for a layering piece, too, as you can see in the first picture. I know I’m going to get so much use out of it. Besides from just being plain comfortable, this shirt is perfect for moms for a few other reasons. For one, the cut is so flattering. It’s loose, but fitted, so while it doesn’t make you look wider than you are, it also hides any love handles or poochy stomachs. It’s also long, so when you’re busy chasing after toddlers and picking up babies, you won’t be exposing any more than you want, ha.

+ Comfortable and no-wrinkle fabric.

+ Long enough to keep your skin covered.

+ A flattering cut that keeps you looking slim and also hides any extra flab.

+ Works as a standalone piece or a layering option.

Outfit #2:

Shirt: PinkBlush | Cardigan: Target (old) | Skirt: DownEast Outfitters (old) | Shoes + Tights: Payless (old)

I love me some florals, but for some reason I hadn’t actually invested in a floral shirt until this one. I LOVE the print of it. It uses a neutral enough pallet that I won’t scare anybody away, and fits in so well with colors I already have in my closet. This has a similar cut to the top I shared above (it has short sleeves, too) but is made out of a thicker material so it hangs a little differently. That said, I still really like it, for most of the same reasons as I liked the other shirt. Any shirt that isn’t skin-tight is a win in my book. Again, it’s so versatile as you can wear it alone or layered with a cardigan. Hoorah!

Outfit #3:

(Holla at my new curtains!) (And excuse my silly face.) (And pardon the just-out-of-the-package wrinkles! I didn’t realize they were there until I was going through my pictures to post.)

This is the shirt that I actually picked out from PinkBlush to review, isn’t it fun? As you can probably tell from the above two shirts (which are both ones I paid for), I am drawn to casual and comfortable clothing items. But I knew I wanted to add something a little different to my wardrobe while still remaining something that I would get a lot of wear out of, and this cute shirt fit the bill!  I love the color (neutral, baby) as well as the pop of color that the floral design adds – it’s perfect for spring! This shirt is more of an out-and-about shirt, in my opinion. I wouldn’t wear it for just a day of staying at home or running errands, like I would the other two. I would wear it if we were going to a fun activity (with or without kids) or dinner, or something similar to that. It’s stylish and cute, yet still comfortable to wear if you have to wrangle kids in public, ha. It’s a bit more fitted than the other two (the bottom layer doesn’t have much stretch) but is still loose enough that you don’t fill constricted and that your pooch (wherever it may be) is hanging out for all to see. I was a little nervous that the top would cut me off at the waist (where the top layer stops) and make me appear thicker than I am, but I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t!

+ Perfect for a day or night out.

+ Long enough to keep your skin covered.

+ Slim-fit but loose cut that helps hide any extra flab.

Well, ladies, there you have it.

I hope you enjoyed this inaugural post to the Fashion After Babies series, and found a few new tips on how to pick shirts that will help you feel beautiful in your own skin. I’d love if you’d share your own fashion after baby by using the hashtag #fashionafterbabymls. I can’t wait to see your posts!

PinkBlush has graciously offered to give away a $50 gift card to one lucky reader! As you can probably tell from the above products, PinkBlush has an amazing array of fashionable and comfortable clothing for women, and you won’t be disappointed in their products. I know there are plenty of trendy boutiques online, but I feel like PinkBlush is one of the best women’s online boutiques. (Check out their cute dresses for women!) FYI, for sizing reference: I am 5’2″ and weigh between 140-145 lbs, and usually wear a size medium shirt and size 8 pants. The first two shirts are size mediums, and the last shirt is a size s/m.

I was given free product (shirt in outfit #3) in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
