Firmoo Review

Firmoo Review

I might have mentioned this in passing already, but let me tell you again. I have terrible vision. Like the kind where I can’t see ANYTHING within a couple of inches from my face. In terms of numbers, I’m -9.0 in one eye and -10.25 in the other. So there’s that.

I received my first pair of glasses in kindergarten (and was in awe that there were actual trees on the mountains), starting trying out contacts in second grade (after my prescription kept changing every six weeks), and was wearing (hard) contacts full time by fourth grade.

Earlier this year, I was planning on using our insurance benefits to get a new pair of glasses, since my current pair was about 10 years old (yikes!). While they helped my vision a bit, I still felt like I couldn’t see while wearing them. However, when I went to the eye doctor, I found out one of my contact lenses was warped (I wear hard lenses), and so I needed to replace them. As my contacts are what I use 99% of the time, it wasn’t hard to decide to use my benefits on those, instead. But I still wanted a new pair of glasses.

Then Firmoo offered to send me a pair to try out, and I was quite excited. The premise of Firmoo is fairly simple. You input your prescription, choose a pair of frames, choose any extras you might like (different coatings, etc) and place your order! They took about 2 weeks to get here, but considering they have to make your glasses, and they ship from China, I was impressed!

Now, my verdict? I enjoyed my experience working with Firmoo. I’m still getting used to my glasses, the depth perception seems like it’s just barely off — and I think that’s because of a few things. One, they’re new! And after having the same pair for 10 years, it’s just me getting used to them. Two, I didn’t choose a high index lens, which means my lenses weren’t slimmed down at all. Like I said above, I have a really high prescription, so my lenses are very thick. So I think that is part of the problem as well. Three, my PD might not be quite accurate, which is my own fault. All in all, though, I can tell that the prescription is accurate, and I can see clearly, which is a win!

Yikes, check out how thick these bad boys are!

As far as construction and presentation go, though? Fantastic. They feel sturdy and they came with a cute glasses case, glasses cloth, and a mini screwdriver, which I definitely appreciate! I will probably try a new pair again, and this time opt to pay for the high index lenses, and hopefully be a bit more accurate with my PD, to see if that helps out with the slight depth perception issue.

Overall, I think if you have a lower prescription, and get your PD from your eye doctor, Firmoo is a fantastic choice to make for your glasses. The lenses are stylish, inexpensive but sturdy, and a great choice if you’re on a budget.

Have you any of you tried Firmoo before? Do you want to? Use the code “HANSON” on any of the glasses on this page for a free pair! (S&H not included.) Give them a try, and let me know what you think!
