Here’s the thing. I always knew that babies and toddlers (and, well, kids people in general) are messy and that once I became a mom I’d be dealing with messes of all sizes. But sometimes it still surprises me just how dirty Abe can get, especially now that it’s summer. Abe loves to be outside. LOVES IT. And while part of me is always cringing at letting him do anything that might stain his clothes or track dirt all around the house, I know I have to let him have fun, learn, and just be a kid! Especially since right now he really doesn’t know any better.
One of his very favorite things to do outside is to help Kyle in our garden. We have a garden box out back where we are growing various vegetables, and out front we have some flowers and rosebushes. Abe likes to help water the plants, and dig in the dirt, too, of course! Because of this, we have quite a few outdoor toys laying around.
I thought I’d show you what we have in what I’ve dubbed our “Garden Helper Pack” in case you ‘d like to make one for your little gardener, or for you to give to a neighbor or family member’s little one! With just a few inexpensive toys, your little one will be ready to have their own fun time in the garden. (And bonus, these things can all be used in other places, not just the garden! At the beach, in the sandbox, etc., these toys will give your child hours of fun this summer.)
How To Create A Garden Helper Pack
- Gather together (or buy) various outdoor toys. I included a bucket, a shovel, a rake and a roller. You can also include an outdoor truck like a plastic truck, if you want to.
- Place all the items together in the bucket.
- If gifting, tie a ribbon around the handle, and attach a label (printable below).
Abe loves using these tools/toys in the garden alongside his daddy! And you know what I love? I love that he is learning the skill of hard work at such a young age, and that he is creating priceless memories with his dad. And I also love that I know that I can get any and all dirt out with my all® POWERCORE™ Pacs OXI. These little suckers pack a mean punch (pun not intended… or is it?) on all the mud and mess I’m always having to get out of Abe’s clothes. They not only get his clothes clean, but they keep them looking clean, white and bright. I love that they include OXI, because I’m a longtime fan of that stuff. Also it’s the first ever powder-liquid duo. Cool, right? (Please don’t tell me I’m the only person that gets excited by laundry detergent…. #momlife.)
We picked our all® POWERCORE™ Pacs OXI up at Walmart in the laundry detergent aisle, and if you’re looking for a detergent that is tough on stains and keeps your clothes looking bright, you can do the same! Just make sure you follow the directions on the package when using. (They also have a tough odor option!)
