Last year Kyle’s parents started planning a trip for all of us (Kyle’s parents, siblings and their families and our family) to go on, and we decided on going to Lake Tahoe. We did a similar trip 4 years ago to Oceanside, CA, which was so fun, and we were excited to have another fun family trip to look forward to — and it finally came! (And went by way too fast, as trips like that usually do).
We drove the 9 hours to Lake Tahoe (we stayed in Zephyr’s Cove) on Saturday, the 2nd. Our kids did so, so well in the car. We were all staying in a (large) house by the beach, and all the various families trickled in that evening. It is always so fun to see all the cousins together. And I have to say, I married into a fantastic family, so I love spending time with all my brothers and sisters, even if they are “in-laws”.
The rest of the week we spent together, playing on the beach, going on hikes, spending time in the hot tub (bless!), playing games after the kids went to bed, and eating way too much food. I don’t really need to go into a play-by-play of our days, so I’ll just add a few of my favorite pictures from the trip, with a short caption about each one. Overall, we had a great time – even if the drive back was a liiiitle long due to a fire and a few “detours”. We love our family so much, and are so grateful we were able to spend a week toegether.
Again, we really just had a fun time! It’s so nice to get away for a while and spend time with the ones you love and build your relationships with them. Lake Tahoe is beautiful, and it was fun to explore a new place that I’d never been before. And now — on to our next summer adventure!
