Happy Thursday! This post is going up a little late, but oh well, that’s life! It’s currently nap-time, so I’m enjoying the silence 🙂 We went to the library this morning (and oh, I got some amazing books) and then we visited Kyle at work, and let me tell you, even after 2.5 years of motherhood, I’m always surprised at how much time and effort it takes to go out with kids. It shouldn’t surprise me anymore, but it does. I’m excited to share today’s Blog-tember prompt with you – enjoy!
Today’s Prompt: My Craziest Adventure
I can’t really say I’ve ever been on really crazy adventures. I don’t drink (which I feel like would contribute to most “crazy adventures”) and I’ve always been a rule follower. But I had a pretty fun and crazy group of friends my sophomore year of college so I thought I’d share a little about the awesome road-trip we went on over “spring break”. I have spring break in parenthesis because my college (Brigham Young University in Utah) doesn’t have a spring break, so we decided to make our own 🙂
The background of the story is this: My best friend at the time (still love her, hey Em!) worked with a gal and they got to be good friends. She introduced Em to her (huge and awesome) group of high school friends, Em introduced her friends (including me!) to them, and voila! Our group was born. We probably spent a good 6 months or so together, totally inseparable, from about January-June 2009.
In March of 2009, my other bestie (Emily’s roommate, I lived 2 apartments above them, but spent more time at their place) Natalie was turning 19 (I think?). Nat hails from northern California, and so we thought, why not road trip it to her house for her birthday, and hit up San Francisco while we’re at it? And so we did. We met on a Wednesday night around 9 pm in the Walmart parking lot. We had a 2 car caravan heading out to California (3 in one car and 5 in the other) (plus one car that went up a day earlier (adding another 4), and 2 other cars that left a little later (adding another 5 people between the two of them) so we had 17 of us in all staying at Nat’s house. Bless you Paul and Connie). We rolled into Loomis around 7:30 am on Thursday morning.
To make a long story short, in the 3.5 short days we were there, we hit up Muir Woods, In N Out multiple times, an indoor race track, a hot tub, and spent a full day in San Francisco. We drove back to Utah Sunday afternoon, and arrived around 3:30 am on Monday morning. It was a quick trip, but so so amazing. I regret nothing.
I don’t keep in touch with the majority of these great people anymore, that’s kind of just how life goes. But I will always, always, always treasure the memories we made together, especially during this California trip. During college, your friends become your family, and this was a pretty great family to belong to. (Also, guys, I have over 100 photos from this trip and it was so hard to just pick a few to share!)
I hope you had a fun time reading about that awesome road trip to California! Seriously one of the best trips of my life. Oh, college. What fun and crazy times. I’ll be back tomorrow sharing how I de-stress. See you then!
