Can we be real for a minute? How is it only Tuesday? I don’t know why but this week is already dragging on. And I can’t find my SD card and my SD card adapter which, you know, I need for the blog. So today’s shaping up to be a good day all around. Not. Ah well. That’s how it goes some times! And I shouldn’t say today is all bad. We had a successful trip to Walmart, followed by a good time at Abe’s music class, and now both kids are napping, so there has been some positive parts to the day 🙂 And now, let’s hop into today’s Blog-tember prompt. After this, there are only 3 more days of Blog-tember, can you believe it? September has flown by!
Today’s Prompt: Something That Moved You Recently
I’m a bit of a conundrum, sometimes. I’m a really emotional person, but also I’m not. That is to say, I get emotional at silly things, like commercials and TV shows, but don’t get emotional at things that really matter, like getting married or birthing my babies. But that’s me for you! When I first saw this prompt, I wasn’t sure what I was going to write about. But last night, Kyle and I put on a random episode of Random Acts, and I sat there and watched it, I knew it was what I needed to write about.
Random Acts is a new TV series by BYUtv (my alma mater’s TV station) that focuses on random acts of kindness. Watching even one episode will likely put a smile on your face as you remember that there is good in the world. Last night we watched the episode Wheelin’ Forward, about a man who was confined to wheelchair after a medical emergency. The Random Acts team took him and his family boating, as this was one of his favorite activities before being in a wheelchair, and the look on his face was so priceless. I cried and cried through this episode, because I was just so happy for this man and his family, for the happiness that was shining on their faces.
You can watch the whole episode here (it’s only 25 minutes long) and I hope you do. There really is still good in this world. We really can make a difference by doing something kind for someone, no matter how small it is. A smile, a wave, paying for someone’s coffee – it makes a difference. It truly, truly does.
What moved you recently? I’d love to know. I’ll be back tomorrow sharing my top 5 photos of the year (providing I can pick only 5! ha!). See you then!
