Ah, the holidays. We love them, but they can also bring with them stress. Stress about having guests over, stress about staying on top of your budget while buying gifts and all the things you need to host a holiday get-together, stress about making sure you can stay up to date on your social calendar and your kids’ programs and recitals and parties. It’s the most wonderful time of the year, yes, but it’s also the most crazy time of the year!
For those of you that are expecting holiday visitors this season, I’ve put together 3 ways to prepare your home for holiday visitors while staying on a budget.
Stock up on toilet paper, paper towels and other essentials at Family Dollar.
Can we all agree that running out of toilet paper while you’re in the bathroom is the worst thing ever? It really is. And I always feel so guilty if I had guests that mention they need toilet paper while they’re staying with us. Oops! I also go through paper towels like crazy. I use them daily to clean up messes, and I also use them when I clean my bathrooms and windows. It’s a product I cannot live without! I love that I can pick up both of these things at Family Dollar for great prices. Angel Soft® bath tissue is one of my favorite brands out there. I usually pick up the 12 Family Roll pack to make sure I don’t run out! It’s designed with the perfect softness and lasting strength you need, at a price that won’t break the bank. I also really like Sparkle® paper towels. They’re the just right towels that get the job done at a good price.
Stock up during sales.
I’m a firm believer in utilizing sales. Is something you usually use on sale? (And I’m thinking along the lines of toiletries or bathroom and kitchen essentials.) Grab a couple. Now that we live in our own home, I love that I have the storage space to do this!
Utilize coupons.
I’m not a crazy couponer, but I do occasionally use coupons when I have one for something I was going to buy anyway, mostly baby necessities (diaper cream, etc) and toiletries (shampoo. body wash, etc). It’s nice to at least save a few cents on something I needed anyway. I collect most of my coupons from random mail ads or products I’ve bought before that come with a coupon (inside the box, for example) and I keep them in my little coupon holder that I got years ago.
Speaking of Family Dollar, they offer their own coupons, called Smart Coupons! This allows you to save even more, on top of their great everyday prices. You can watch the video below to learn how to use them. And you can sign up for them here. These are electronic coupons, and not printable, just FYI!
I hope these tips will help you! Shopping at Family Dollar is really a great way to hit all three points I mentioned, so if you haven’t checked it out lately, head on in, and give it a try — and start saving money! 🙂
