Abe at 2.5

Abe at 2.5

I thought since Abe recently (ok, it was the end of September) turned 2.5, I’d give a quick little update on our little man Abe at 2.5 years old. And, oh, you guys. My heart. My sweet little Abe. I can’t fully tell you how much I love him, because I can’t help you see all his sweet mannerisms, the inflection in his words, the emotion in his face. Being around him is simply just the best.

Some of his most recent frequently said phrases are: “Oh, of course.” “Um, yes.” “Um, no.” And even more recently (real time, not Abe at 2.5 time) he’s started to say: “Ok, Daddy.” “Ok, Mommy.” as well as “No, thank you.” and “Yes, please.” I die you guys. I DIE.

He immediately goes to the pantry (or the fridge) in the morning, and tells me “Abe needs food” or “Abe needs breakfast”.

Whenever I mention it’s almost dinnertime he’ll say “Daddy home yay!”.

He is (usually) a really good helper with Eliza, going to check on her, bringing her a bottle, or bringing me wipes and diapers. They play together so well, and it melts my heart. This morning they were crawling on the floor together, with Abe leading the way saying “Let’s go this way!”

He loves to give directions, both at home and in the car. At home he’ll say things like, “Come here, Mommy.” or “No, go this way.” In the car he’ll tell us to “Go slow.” or “Go fast.” or “Turn this way!” or “Get off freeway!”. It’s pretty hilarious having a back seat driver already.

Obviously his speech has just taken off, and it’s so cute to hear him communicate with us in full sentences.

He’ll report to us what Eliza is doing while in the car — “Wiza sweeping!” “Wiza wake!” “Wiza waughin’!” And loves to look over at her and say, “A-boo, Wiza!” and “Hi, Wiza!” Speaking of, he loves making her laugh. It’s the best thing ever.

Another thing about Abe at 2.5? He is really sensitive to Eliza. When she cries, he cries. It’s the cutest, most annoying thing ever 🙂

A while back he had a toy wrench and was sticking it in his toy dog’s mouth, pretending to be a dentist. He also told me he wanted to be a doctor when he grows up. So we’ll see about that.

In the past 1-2 weeks (real time when this is posting, not 18 month time), he’s started to put his arms around me and tell me, “Abe wuves Mommy.” and then I melt into a puddle on the ground because how could I not?

He’s still the best sleeper, although I have to put him down for naps later these days, to get him to still nap (and I need him to still nap!). He loves to eat most days, and especially loves treats. His current favorite TV shows are Agent Oso, Space Racers, Dino Trucks, Clifford, Little Einsteins, and Mouk. He goes through phases though and also like shows like Chuggington, Thomas the Tank Engine, The Hive, Masha and the Bear, and others that I can’t think of right now. And of course, he loves watching YouTube videos on my phone.

He loves to be outside, and absolutely loves the slides and the swings. He loves to read books, and play with cars and trains, too.

Just as a little anecdote: Back in September or so, we were on a family walk, and Abe decided he wanted to walk part of the way (we usually take the double stroller and let him walk as he wants). So, we’re walking home, down the hill by our home, and Abe’s “running” in front of us. And he has a pretty full diaper, so it’s falling off his bum, and his pants are looser so the pants are falling down, and his whole little bum is showing and he’s reaching back trying to pull them back up every few seconds without stopping and it was the most hilarious thing ever. Kyle and I were dying. And when we got home we were sad we hadn’t thought to take a video of it, because it was hilarious.

So there you have it. Abe at 2.5. He’s just our favorite little dude. And we’re so grateful he is ours!
