As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS or Mormon), missionary work is something that is often discussed. In our church, young men and young women spend 18-24 months serving people all over the world, and inviting them to Christ. While missionary work is wonderful and important, it can also be very hard. While on a mission, these young people only communicate with their friends and family members through letters and emails, and are only able to call or video chat home twice a year. They put their whole focus on serving the people of their mission, inviting them to Christ, and growing more in the Gospel themselves.
In his new book, Faith and A Life Jacket, Ben Bernards shares 7 truths he learned on his mission in Fiji, truths that will benefit not just missionaries, but all of us! While focused on missionaries, there was a lot of good in this book, good advice for anyone trying to live like Christ would and to share His Gospel with others.
I would recommend this book for teenagers, whether or not they are preparing to serve a full-time mission, because the truths found in this book will benefit them throughout their lives, mission and beyond.
