I am waiting in a silent prayer.
I am frightened
By the load I bear.
In a world as cold as stone
Must I walk this path alone?
Be with me now.
Be with me now.
Breath of Heaven
Hold me together
Be forever near me
Breath of Heaven.
Breath of Heaven
Lighten my darkness
Pour over me your holiness
For you are holy.
Breath of Heaven.
Do you wonder as you watch my face
If a wiser one
Should have had my place?
But I offer all I am
For the mercy of your plan.
Help me be strong.
Help me be.
Help me.
There are no words to explain the emotions that well up within me whenever I hear this song. The lyrics speak to me directly, as I’ve felt this same fear, as I’ve prayed this same prayer. This season, as we ponder on the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, let us also ponder on the role of the Madonna, the wonderful, wise, brave, courageous, willing Mary. Mary was young when she was told she was going to be the mother of the Savior. She was unprepared for and unknowing of what was to come.
But she said yes.
I hope that we, too, will say yes to Him when He comes to us and asks something of us.
I know that He will help us, that He will be with us, that we do not need to walk alone.
Let us rejoice this Christmas season that because a sweet babe was born in Bethlehem, we are never alone, and we can be saved. Let us rejoice and sing His praises forever more. Let us remember the reason for the season: that a young mother bore her baby in stable, and that her baby was and is the Lamb of God, who sacrificed Himself for me, and for you. Hallelujah, and Oh, Holy Night, indeed.
“Because Jesus walked such a long, lonely path utterly alone, we do not have to do so.”
