Cold Weather Activities

Every so often I love to be sign up for Mommy Style Monday — I originally wanted to join in every time, but found that I just couldn’t! But I am going to sign up once a month or so, because it’s so fun to be involved. Mommy Style Mondays was created by Kiana and Madeline to showcase how different mommas have different styles, not only in clothing and fashion, but in the way they parent, create, and, well, just everything! We join together to share and celebrate those differences together, and to get ideas from other moms, as well! If you want to join us, you can sign up on Kiana or Madeline’s blogs (see links at the bottom of the post!).

Today we’re sharing about cold weather activities. This winter has been SO WEIRD in my neck of the woods. We had a long, warm fall, and then bam! Winter hit and it has continued hitting since. We have had feet of snow, multiples days in the negatives (-20 is COLD I tell you!), our school district has had 3 snow days since the new year, and last week we had a weird warm and rainy spell that caused flooding for a lot of homes (and then the temperature dipped again and created sheets of ice everywhere). Weird, I tell you, weird. All those things aside, who wants to leave the house when it is below zero, or snowing, or icy? Not me, I tell you, not me. But then, now we’re stuck at home. So what do we do?

To be honest, Netflix and DVDs has been a bit of a lifesaver these last couple of weeks. Luckily, Abe and Eliza also got a lot of quality toys for Christmas, so we’ve had some fun playing with them. (These things include a play kitchen, and train set.) And there are always books, too. Abe also loved to play with play-dough and paint. Obviously I am not a fan of outdoor cold weather activities 😉 I hate the cold!

So, here are a list of some of the activities we’ve been enjoying this winter:

  • Play-dough.
  • Painting.
  • Playing kitchen.
  • Playing cars and trains.
  • Reading.
  • Play dates.
  • Going to the library.
  • TV and movies.
  • And other random activities!

We also have a local bounce house fun center that looks like a lot of fun! We haven’t actually gone yet, but 3 days a week they do toddler mornings, so I’m looking forward to trying it out in the next month or two!

Be sure to check out these other fabulous ladies’ blogs and see what cold weather activities they enjoy!
