Happy Friday! Tonight Kyle and I are going on our Valentine’s date and I am SO excited. A group of my friends and I have put together a couples party, complete with dinner, drink bar, games, prizes, and dancing, and it’s going to be oh-so-fun! Partying with my besties plus my husband? Perfection. But I’m not here today to talk about parties, I’m here to talk about pencil skirts. Because you guys. Pencil skirts are some of my favorite things. I own 5. They are flattering, easy to dress up or down, and oh-so-comfy, and today I want to share with you 2 simple ways to style a pencil skirt, because it really is simple to style one, I promise.
First up, let’s dress it up. I wore this outfit to church this past Sunday and felt so pretty and put together. I even threw a little pattern mixing in. Want to know the secret to mixing patterns? Just do it. Own it. And then of course I threw on a cardigan on top because I love all the cardigans and wear them all the time.

The second way to wear a pencil skirt? Dress it down with a graphic tee and sneakers. (Y’all, can we talk about my poor white legs?!) This is the perfect outfit to wear while running errands around town. It’s just as easy to pull on a skirt as it is to pull on sweats. I promise. A little tip to wearing a skirt or dress on a weekday? The same as mixing patterns — just do it and own it. If you don’t draw attention to the fact that it’s not something you do every day, no one will ever know.
The skirt I’m wearing in these pictures is my newest pencil skirt, from Cents of Style, and I am in love. The fabric feels like a cloud. I honestly had Kyle touch it like 5 times telling him that it felt like a memory foam mattress topper. I’m a sucker for florals, but I already have a navy floral, so choosing one with a black background was a no-brainer. Mine is called the Tenley, but I LOVE the Zia, too, in both colors! But that gray and coral has me all heart-eyed emoji over here. Cents of Style has quite a few more styles and they are all gorgeous. Today (2/17) through 2/19 you can use the code FLORALSTORY to get your choice of skirt for $19.95 + free shipping! Pencils skirts are timeless, so go treat yourself!
I am 5’2″, wear a size 8/10 in pants, and opted for a size large pencil skirt and it fits great!
