Every so often I love to be sign up for Mommy Style Monday — I originally wanted to join in every time, but found that I just couldn’t! But I am going to sign up once a month or so, because it’s so fun to be involved. Mommy Style Mondays was created by Kiana and Madeline to showcase how different mommas have different styles, not only in clothing and fashion, but in the way they parent, create, and, well, just everything! We join together to share and celebrate those differences together, and to get ideas from other moms, as well! If you want to join us, you can sign up on Kiana or Madeline’s blogs (see links at the bottom of the post!).
Today’s prompt is all about organizational & cleaning tips. Guys, I am all about the organizational part of this. Organizing things brings me great, great joy. It’s a bit embarrassing, really, just how much I love to organize. Cleaning though? Eh, it’s not my most favorite thing in the world. I would say it’s because I have kids (and that’s part of it) but I didn’t enjoy it before I had them either. Anyway! Enough about me, on to the tips!
The Dollar Store.
You can buy ALL THE ORGANIZATIONAL THINGS there, and it’s amazing. They have makeup organizers, fridge organizers, drawer organizers, storage containers, and cute bins and baskets. If you have a drawer or cupboard in your house that needs to be organized, chances are, the dollar store has just what you need.
Make A Cleaning Schedule.
Ok, this still doesn’t always work for me (mostly because I just don’t follow it….) but the weeks and months I do follow it I feel so much less stressed. I wrote a post about how to make one back here, so if that’s something you would like to do, check it out! It’s so nice to know what few things you need to accomplish each day, instead of just writing one huge list that gives you a panic attack just thinking about. Cleaning schedules are definitely the way to go.
Buy Cleaning Products That Make You Excited.
I highly dislike cleaning. Like I said above, organizing is my jam, but actually cleaning? No, thank you. But, of course, it’s a part of life, and part of learning how to enjoy it (which is still a work in progress in my life) is buying cleaning products that I love and that make me excited to use them. This will look different for everyone, I’m sure, but for me, this means buying cleaners that are safe and natural, and smell good. One day I’ll post about all my favorite cleaning products, but know that I am mostly cleaning with Norwex products and other more natural cleaners than the harsh cleaners I used to use.
And let me share a little secret with you. My favorite place to buy natural cleaning products from is Grove Collaboration. (The next part is going to sound like an infomercial, but it’s not sponsored, although I will share my affiliate link with you). I first came across Grove in January, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite things. Grove is structured similar to a subscription box service, but you can choose exactly what you want in your shipment each month, and it’s the easiest thing to skip a month, re-schedule your shipment, etc., so you don’t have to buy something every month if you don’t want to. Below is an example of my shipment page. It shows what will be in my shipment (I cut out the order total, but it shows you there just to the right of where I cropped) and the drop down calendar where you can easily move what date it ships, or just change it to the next month. It also includes an arrival date which I really enjoy. (They ship UPS.) OH! And your card is not charged until your ship date. Just FYI. They also will remember what you bought previously and fill in your shipments for you (and you can change the frequency you need them so they’ll pop up monthly, every 2 months, every 3 months, etc.) but you can easily just click the “X” and delete them if you don’t like them or don’t need them that month. You will also get multiple reminders (email and/or text) before they ship, so you can go in and change your shipment and shipping date.
Grove sells brands like Mrs. Meyer’s, Seventh Generation, Yes To, Toms, etc, so you know you’re getting good, quality, natural products. And the best thing is that they sell them much cheaper than you would find them in a store or on other online sites. Using Grove makes it so easy to switch to more natural-based living, even for someone like me who is far from being “crunchy”. They sell both household products and health & beauty products, and really, they’re just the best. So check it out! You might love it like I do. You can use my referral link to create an account and get $10 off your first shipment, so what have you got to lose? I have only spent $20 a month at the most since I started, and usually average around $12. You’re going to be buying cleaning products anyway, right? Might as well buy them through Grove.
Alright. Thanks for bearing with me through my little spiel. I really do love Grove so much and I hope you do too! (PS: I highly recommend signing up for the VIP program if you think this is something you’ll love. You’ll get free shipping on every order, plus full-sized gifts for free 5 times a year.)
So there you go, there are a few of my tips for cleaning and organization. I can’t wait to read what the awesome ladies below have to say! I’m always in search of more tips to help me keep a clean house (because let’s be honest, most of the time, it’s not.)
