3 Things Saving My Postpartum Life

Postpartum Life

This post is sponsored by Scott Brand, but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

Little Jonah is 3 weeks old today and I’m feeling all the feels. We think this is our last baby, and so I’m trying to soak up all the snuggles I can. I know this time flies by all too quickly, and even though I’ve never really been the sentimental type, it’s making me a little sad. I’ll post more about that later, though. As those of you who are moms know, the postpartum side of labor and delivery, can be a bit rough. We’ve mostly been hunkered down inside, enjoying our time as a family of five, and me recovering from childbirth. I thought today I’d share 3 things that have been saving my postpartum life over the past 3 weeks, because that postpartum period can be rough, and if I can help make it a little easier for you, than I definitely want to do that!

Amazon.com.

It’s going to be a while before I venture out on my own with three kids, let alone try to grocery shop with them. Even before Jonah was born I was going shopping by myself while Kyle was home. I am seriously so thankful for online shopping, and I know all you other moms (ok, all you other people, because who doesn’t love it?!) feel me. Amazon.com has been one of my favorites sites since I was a freshman in college (11 years now, what?!) because of it’s wide selection, prices, and quick shipping.

In my last Amazon order, I added some Scott Comfort Plus toilet paper, because we were running out (#reallife) and I wanted to try this new product that is tested for strength and designed for comfort. Plus, postpartum life demands soft toilet paper, amirght?! So far I’m a fan, and I’m an even bigger fan of buying it on Amazon, since it comes in bulk — and if you’ve been around here a while, you know I am a HUGE advocate of buying in bulk.

Postpartum Life

Fun fact, the Scott Brand is currently sponsoring a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to your choice of a MENCS race in 2018 or 2019. You can find out more here, but it includes airfare, hotel, race tickets, and more! I’m all about free trips and have definitely already entered 🙂

Naps.

I know some people have really strong opinions against “sleeping when the baby sleeps” but I am alllll about it. Am I able to do it every nap? Of course not, but I definitely try. Like I mentioned in last week’s post, sleep is a top priority for me. There are not a lot of people who function well on little sleep, and so I need that extra rest so I’m not irritated and grumpy most of the day.

Freezer Meals.

I made 10 freezer meals about a month before Jonah came with some girlfriends of mine, plus I’ve been gifted a few from friends and family. They definitely save me on some nights. I haven’t used too many of them yet, because we’ve had visitors and Kyle’s been on paternity leave, but they are SO nice to have. If you’ve been thinking about making some, just do it. It can be a bit of an upfront expense, and it takes a few hours, but it is so worth it to have a freezer packed full of meals for those nights that you just can’t deal.

So there you have it, just a few things saving my postpartum life right now. I hope they’re helpful to you! I’m looking forward to sharing even more products, tips, and tricks that get me through the postpartum phase in the coming weeks!
