    GBOMB | May & June 2019

    gbomb

It’s halfway through June, and summer is in full swing over here! I thought it was time to do a little GBOMB to share with you all what’s been happening around here. I’m hoping to get back into a routine when it comes to blogging — still not blogging multiple times a week (probably) but at least blogging more consistently. I have so many half-written posts I’d love to finish and share with you! 🙂

    GOOD

It finally warmed up here in southeastern Idaho (like literally this past week) so HALLELUJAH it actually feels like summer now. Abe and Eliza enjoyed going to swim lessons for the first time (which was also their first time in a swimming pool) and they absolutely loved it.

In May we celebrated Jonah’s 1st birthday, I was able to spend a weekend with my best friend Dani in Utah, Abe graduated from preschool, we finished up Abe’s soccer season, and basically were really busy. It was crazy, but fun.

We’re currently in the middle of a slight kitchen remodel (new appliances!!!!!! a pantry cabinet!!!!) and I’m stoked for the end product. Also, for the past two weeks I’ve been waking up between 6 and 6:15 in the morning in order to go to the gym and make it home before Kyle leaves for work. I have been LOVING IT. I’ve started to rotate between the treadmill, the recumbent bike, and weight machines. (And if I can get up the courage to figure out how to use the rowing machine I’d love to start doing that, too!) It is such a great start to my day and makes me happy. I’m loving it so much.

    BAD

Apparently I just have anxiety now. So that’s been interesting to figure out how to deal with these last few months. It’s not all bad, all the time, but it’s there sometimes and so it’s a part of my life now.

    ON MY BRAIN

I’ve been trying to wrap my head around the fact that I’m a school mom now. This past year was an introduction to this phase of life as we started having field trips, class parties, and sports practices and games. And I know it will only get more busy and hectic this coming year. Gone are the days of staying at home with my babies, not having a routine, not having extracurriculars and home work.  It’s weird and wonderful.

Random though, but I freaking LOVE the podcast Crime Junkie. If you like true crime you need this in your life.

    Logic of God

Now that I’m in a good gym/waking up early routine, I really need to work on getting in a better habit of scripture study and reading uplifting meterial. I’m still experimenting with a few things, so I’m not there yet, but when I figure out what works for me, I’ll let you know! Frontgate Media sent me over the new devotional The Logic of God by Ravi Zacharias, and I’ve been using it off and on the last couple of weeks. I’ve never read any of his work before, and while I enjoy it, he writes in a formal manner, which I don’t love. There are definitely some nuggets of wisdom though. If you’re looking for a new devotional, maybe give it a try. You can snag it on Amazon! In case you’re curious, here’s the official description:

Jesus Christ alone answers our deepest questions. We all have doubts that challenge our faith. We wonder whether the Bible still matters, or whether God is truly as loving and personal as we hope. In his first ever devotional, The Logic of God, apologist Ravi Zacharias offers 52 readings that explain how and why Christianity, the Bible, and God are still relevant, vital, and life-changing for us today. To all our dilemmas Ravi says, “I am convinced that Jesus Christ alone uniquely answers the deepest questions of our hearts and minds.” With a remarkable grasp of biblical facts and a deep understanding of the questions that trouble our hearts, Ravi tackles the most difficult topics with ease and understanding. But The Logic of God is more than intellectual; it is also personal, offering thoughtful wisdom on:

when Jesus draws especially near you.
the deep ray of hope found in God’s Word.
    how God transforms disappointments.
    why prayer matters.
    how genuine peace is possible.
    making sense of suffering.

Ravi makes profound biblical truth easy to understand. And if your life is busy, this book is designed for you! It addresses 52 topics that you can read over the course of one year or slowly digest at your own pace. Each entry includes a Scripture, questions for reflection, and some practical application steps. When you’re struggling with questions and doubts, confused, curious, or just want a clearer way to express your faith The Logic of God has answers that satisfy the heart and the mind.

Thanks to FrontGate Media for sending over a copy of The Logic of God for me to review. All opinions are my own.
